The event kicked off ata desert truck stop, where participants, as fully embodied avatars, explored a neon-lit world, rode motorcycles, and interacted with NPCs. As Fatboy Slim's beats echoed, a stage materialised, and the area turned into a rave, complete with a meteor shower and floating images.
The adventure continued as attendees were whisked away in a caravan of fantastical vehicles, diving into the creative genius of Norman Cook. Concertgoers found themselves on a neon-lit stage, surrounded by stunning visuals. The event culminated with a descent from the sky, skydiving into a euphoric finale at "Mount Ravemore," before returning to the silence of the desert.
This VR concert set a new standard for immersive entertainment and was, for us, one of the best virtual reality experiences of 2023. Avenged Sevenfold's virtual reality concerts, produced by AmazeVR, redefined the concert-going experience by merging a traditional live performance's energy with the immersive qualities of VR technology. Set against a backdrop of striking virtual landscapes, fans witness the band performing in otherworldly settings, complete with their iconic imagery.
This innovative approach allows viewers to feel an unprecedented closeness to the band, transforming the concert into a spectacular, interactive journey. The Butterfly Trail
"The Butterfly Trail," presented by Pixel Artworks in partnership with Aircards, is a pioneering mixed-reality journey that captivated visitors in Outernet London in the second half of 2023. This immersive narrative guides participants through Professor Peter Pelegrin's enchanting Botanical Workshop and into a Glass House teeming with digital life. Using their smartphones, visitors engage with innovative AR butterflies, becoming part of a story that blends the natural world with fantastical elements. Highlighted by world-first technological advancements, it's an experience that merges interactive gameplay, stunning visuals, and personal engagement. While technically more of a mixed reality experience, we had to include The Butterfly Trail in the list of our favourite VR experiences of 2023.
